Pukekura Park, New Plymouth

A unique opportunity presented itself when CleanStream NZ were tasked to desilt a number of ponds/lakes at Pukekura Park. Anyone who has visited New Plymouth will know the park is the jewel in their crown and a huge tourism drawcard.

New Plymouth District Council were after an innovative solution to clean the waterways, which had been choked up with silt. As a consequence, the park’s ability to provide suitable habitat in addition to adequate attenuation, was severely diminished. CleanStream NZ’s manoeuvrable dredge and low-impact dewatering setup were the perfect fit for the job. The park could stay open to the public during the operation with no mess, no unpleasant odours and responsible silt disposal. We also able to demonstrate our versatility in pond cleaning, including a range of tools for vegetation removal.
